Molahedrons, 2017

Molahedrons maps Mars surface topography onto polyhedral geometries using NASA Mars orbiter scan data. The study extends the Bathemetries approach from Earth ocean floors to Martian terrain, projecting planetary relief data onto various three-dimensional forms.

Mars orbiter laser altimeter measurements provide elevation data across the planet's surface. This topographic information translates differently onto each polyhedral substrate, producing distinct relationships between Martian surface features and mathematical structure.

Which polyhedral geometries best accommodate planetary-scale terrain data — and how projection methods affect topographic representation — connects the Earth bathymetric models with Martian surface mapping. The investigation remains ongoing.
