Moon Sphere maps lunar surface topography onto polyhedral geometries using NASA orbiter data. As a corollary to the Molahedrons Mars mapping study, this work projects Moon surface relief onto various three-dimensional forms, while also incorporating my node connector research.
The study integrates in two directions: lunar topographic data provides the surface information, while node classification algorithms enable hybrid construction methods. The geometric forms combine 3D printed connectors with structural elements, which test assembly approaches in which digital and traditional fabrication meet.
How Moon surface features translate across different polyhedral substrates and how connector systems adapt to varied geometric configurations drive the ongoing research.
