Moon Sphere, 2017

Moon Sphere maps lunar surface topography onto polyhedral geometries using NASA orbiter data. Related to the Molahedrons Mars mapping study, this work projects Moon surface relief onto various three-dimensional forms while incorporating node connector research.

The study integrates two directions: lunar topographic data provides the surface information, while node classification algorithms enable hybrid construction methods. The geometric forms combine 3D printed connectors with structural elements, testing assembly approaches where digital and traditional fabrication meet.

How Moon surface features translate across different polyhedral substrates — and how connector systems adapt to varied geometric configurations — drives the ongoing research.
