Research:
Each Fragment is a grain of sand blown up 130 to 230 times and shaped. There are 9 of them, which are open editions of the grain of Dadaepo brought in the first edition (made in 2024) in 2025. These grains were collected from the coasts Lee works with, from Korea to Senegal, Portugal, Mallorca, then to the coasts of New York and Connecticut. These grains are preserved in the title. These grains (this 2024 edition) are made of quartz sand, art resin and mixed materials with the longest dimension of 28 – 43cm. After being blown and shaped, the surface of the grain finally becomes legible. A clear cut is followed by a face curved by the water, a skin with weather pits. Research: the grains have been scanned on a Zeiss X-ray microscope in Essingen and then printed in bound sand in Sandhelden near Munich and hand finished. Less as if it is made than found.
