Levitation, 2014 – Thilo Frank x Phillip C. Reiner

"Levitation" suspends a black polyhedron in Kunstraum Dornbirn's gallery space. The geometric form hangs from ceiling-mounted cables through a tensioned suspension system. The black powder coating absorbs light, reducing the form to silhouette and edges. The suspension system positions the polyhedron at calculated height and orientation-viewers encounter it from below, above (from gallery's upper level), and at eye level. The result is a perceptual contradiction: heavy material suspended in space, static form with potential mobility. Frank's concept works against gravitational expectation; Reiner's engineering ensures stable suspension despite the polyhedron's scale and weight.
