The installation consists of 36 individually suspended tetrahedra, arranged along a Möbius strip, hanging in the atrium as a welcome arch for the Rødovre Centrum. The group of sculptures creates dynamic shadows and reflections through sunlight, which change with time and seasons. The installation explores the mathematical concept of the Möbius strip through three-dimensional tetrahedral forms, creating a continuous loop that challenges spatial perception. Part of the "Art in Architecture" program, the installation functions as a welcome element at the shopping center entrance. The LED system illuminates the structure and responds to the existing architecture and daylight.
Research:
The Möbius strip was parametrized so that 36 tetrahedra could be placed along the single-sided loop without collision. Tetrahedron sizes vary along the strip according to the local curvature and the desired visual rhythm. The algorithm placed each tetrahedron at a point on the strip and oriented it relative to the strip's tangent; structural checks ensured the suspension loads and clearances were feasible for the atrium.
